You cannot avail of a Fibroscan if you:
• are under 18
• are pregnant
• have abdominal wounds or any skin infection
• are not comfortable getting onto / lying completely flat on your back on an examination bed
• have a pacemaker or similar device fitted
• have had a heavy meal or high fat drink within the last four hours
• have had a drink containing alcohol today
• have signs of ascites (a build-up of fluid in your abdomen)
• are currently under the care of a consultant for a diagnosed liver condition, or an investigation for same
• have been diagnosed with a liver cyst or abscess
