LISN: Patients Empowering Patients

Developing resources for liver patients and their carers who are on the transplant journey.

Feeling understood during the most challenging times can make all the difference. At LISN, we believe in the transformative power of patients supporting patients. Our organisation is led by individuals who have each undergone a liver transplant themselves, giving us a unique understanding of the transplantation journey. Through our shared experiences, we recognise the critical role that peer support plays in the journey toward wellness.

On April 20th, 2024, LISN was born, coinciding with Organ Donation Awareness Week—a cause deeply personal to each member of our committee. Many of us owe our lives to the selflessness of organ donors and their families. As we celebrate our launch, we urge you to have the important conversation with your loved ones about organ donation.

By completing and sharing the quick online link to become a donor, you can help save lives and bring hope to those in need. Together let’s make a difference.

Remembering Our Dear Friend & Chairman, Brendan McAtamney

Brendan McAtamney passed away on the morning of Saturday, 21st December 2024. He is survived by his mother, Kathleen, his wife Caroline, children Eoin, Aisling, Éanna and Aoife, grandchildren Cora and Leo, brothers Martin and Kieran, sister Anne, extended family and a vast circle of friends and colleagues. Our most sincere condolences are extended to them on their sad loss.

The announcement of Brendan’s passing was not entirely unexpected but was no less sorrowful for his LISN colleagues. Many tears were shed, many hugs and kind words were exchanged, and many stories and narratives of his career, travels and antics on the golf course, at his tennis club and with his soccer team were shared.
